Dentist

DDS

Hi, I am Dr. Paola Sugulio, and I am the owner dentist here at Palm and Pearl Dental. I graduated as a general dentist in my hometown, Venezuela, in Maraco at La University del Zulia, and I graduated in 2001 with my general dentist degree. I practiced in my hometown at my parents' dental office because we had a family practice.

After that, I completed a two-year program for advanced education to become a faculty member at dental school, and I taught in dental school for about 11 years. After that, I decided to do a prostadontic program in Bogotá, Colombia, which was three years. Then I moved to the US and went to the University of Florida and completed a two-year program in advanced education in general dentistry. Since then, I've been practicing in the Naples area.

Why did you choose dentistry as your career?

I chose dentistry as my career, my profession, because I was inspired by my parents. They gave me the inspiration to do what they did with so much passion, dedication, and commitment.

What is your favorite part of your job?

The favorite part of my job is making people smile and making people healthy.

What are your personal hobbies?

My personal hobby is working out. I love working out. It's my stress relief. It makes me happy. I also love to cook, and I love spending time with my family.

How did your dental work life start, and what has your career path been?

My dental work life started with my parents because I grew up in this environment. Not this one specifically, but our family practice in Marako, Venezuela. I grew up there, and I definitely started as a dental assistant, helping my parents and, of course, assisting with the sterilization process.

After that, I graduated as a dentist, a general dentist, and I was doing general dentistry for a long time. I also worked hand-to-hand with my mom, who is a pediatric dentist, already retired, and I worked with kids, with special needs kids. That was the first part of my career.

Then I decided that I wanted to specialize because we had a family practice, and we wanted to kind of cover all the areas to serve our patients better, and I decided to do a prostadontic program to basically fulfill the needs that we had in our office since my mom was a pediatric dentist, and my dad and my brother were orthodontists. I was doing the prostadontics part. I practiced in my country for about, I want to say, 11 years.

After that, I moved to the US, and I started again as a dental assistant. Then I started studying to prepare for my boards, and finally I got into the University of Florida, where I got my degree in the United States. Before that, I did a prostadantic program for three years at Univers Havana in Bogotá, Colombia. And I've been practicing in the Naples area since 2017. I started as an associate dentist. And then finally, I got my dream to become true, which is having my own practice, which is Palm and Pearl Dental.

What is your favorite part of providing dental care to your patients?

My favorite part of providing dental care to my patients is putting them back to health, getting them out of pain, and, of course, making them smile.

From a very early age, dentistry has been my passion. Growing up in a family of dentists gave me the chance to witness and learn about what they do with so much dedication, passion and commitment. My mission is to make every patient’s visit as stress-free and comfortable as possible. You can count on me to listen to your needs and our highly trained team will develop a personalized treatment plan just for you.
